HR Manager

THE COMPANY 

Rebellion Fabrication is a structural and architectural steel fabricator in Wahoo, Nebraska, with a second location in Elkhorn. Roughly half our people are on the shop floor: welders, fabricators, material handlers, painters. The other half are in the office. We run on EOS. 

We have grown fast and we are still growing. We have committed to an ESOP, which means the people who build this company will own it. That shapes how we hire and how we treat people. 

THE SEAT 

This is the first dedicated HR seat at Rebellion. The President currently holds these accountabilities and is hiring this role to own them. 

It is a hands-on job. You are on the floor, in the conversations, and in the documentation. There is no HR team under you and no HR function to operate inside. You build it as you go, alongside a recruiter and an executive assistant who sit on the same team. 

This is not a leadership team seat and it is not a strategy role. If you are looking for a seat at the table where you shape direction and someone else handles the hard conversations, this will frustrate you. 

WHAT YOU OWN 

Employee relations and investigations 

You own employee issues start to finish. You investigate, you document, you close it. You are the named person employees bring a concern to before it becomes a complaint. 

Supervisor capability and process integrity 

You train supervisors to run performance and accountability conversations. You sit in on terminations. When the process is being skipped, you step in and slow it down until the facts and documentation are validated. Supervisor performance itself stays with their manager. 

Performance conversation follow-through 

Supervisors own their conversations. You make them capable of holding them and you make sure they actually happen on schedule. When a supervisor is behind, you press them directly. When it stays behind, you take it to Operations. 

New-hire integration through 90 days 

You build the 90-day plan with the supervisor and confirm it gets executed: week one, first 30 days, required training and tests. You check in with both the new hire and the supervisor. You catch the gaps early, and you catch the hires who are not going to make it. 

Compliance and safety-sensitive HR 

Post-incident investigation and documentation, work comp claims and carrier communication, the OSHA 300 log and recordability, required postings. You act directly regardless of reporting line. The shop owns safety execution: training, lockout/tagout, close-call review. 

WHAT IS NOT IN THIS SEAT 

Compensation architecture, benefits strategy, org design, recruiting strategy, culture direction, and safety program execution all sit elsewhere. You will have input. You will not own them. 

WHAT WE ARE ACTUALLY LOOKING FOR 

Two things matter more than everything else combined. 

The first is credibility with skilled trades. You can walk onto a shop floor and be taken seriously by welders and fabricators. You have thick skin and a sense of humor and you do not read as an outsider. Manufacturing or construction experience is the obvious path here, but it is not the only one. Hospitals, corrections, logistics, restaurants, military, field services, and ag produce the same thing. We will not screen you out for lacking a blue-collar background. 

The second is backbone in both directions. Most people in HR can confront an employee. Fewer will take a position on a decision that belongs to someone else, in the moment, while it is still live, and hold it when they are told to proceed anyway. That is the half of this job that is hard to hire for, and it is the half we care about most. Expect to be asked for a specific instance, what you did when you were overruled, and what it cost you. 

Beyond that: you are a doer who is not above unglamorous work, you have operated without an HR function underneath you, and you are willing to say “I don’t know yet” instead of performing confidence.

• Based at the Wahoo shop, on-site. This is not a remote or hybrid role. 

• Elkhorn presence two to four times a month. 

• No direct reports. 

• Up to $125,000 depending on experience, plus benefits and participation in the ESOP as it is established.

The role

Read this one only if you've already proven you can run a job. We need someone who's carried hard jobs and is looking for more room, not more title.

You own the hardest work we take: the most scope ambiguity, the tightest erection windows, and the clients who make you earn it. And you raise the floor for everyone else.

What you'll own

Everything a Project Manager here owns, on our most complex work: schedule, budget, sub-fab, client, closeout, margin. Plus:

•      Developing PMs: You set the bar. You're who a PM comes to before they come to the Director. You review their work and you're honest about it.

•      Bridging pre-con and operations: You understand how the job was sold, and you catch the bid assumption that won't survive the shop, before it costs us.

•      Commercial accountability: You push back on a sub's number, a vendor's schedule, or a GC's position without escalating and without burning the relationship.

•      Parallel tracks: Detailing, fabrication, delivery, and erection running at once. You hold all four and see where they collide.

Project Manager, Structural Steel

Own the job, from kickoff to closeout. Not a coordination role.

The role:

You own the job. From kickoff handoff through final closeout, you're accountable for the schedule, the budget, the sub-fabrication, and the client relationship. You're the single point of contact for the owner, architect, and general contractor.

If you want a project-reactor job where someone else owns the number, this isn't it. You carry the margin.

What you'll own:

•      Project ownership: The full PM process from kickoff through closeout. The whole job, not a phase of it.

•      Schedule and coordination: Build and maintain the project schedule with Operations, Purchasing, and the client. Sequence against shop capacity, material availability, and field need dates. Protect duration from release to delivery, not just the final date.

•      Sub-fabrication management: Own outside fabrication, from vendor selection and coordination to integrating delivery dates into the schedule. Outsourced work meets the same standard as in-house work.

•      Cost control: Own the budget from release through closeout. Track actuals, forecast accurately, and keep a disciplined change management log. Deliver each job at or above bid margin.

•      Client communications: RFIs, submittals, change orders, pay applications, and status updates, on time.

•      Documentation and closeout: A complete closeout package: drawings, submittals, weld and QC records per AISC, as-builts, punch list. Lead the post-job margin review that feeds the next estimate.

•      Process discipline: Run the same process as every other PM here. Your files are where they belong. Someone could pick up your job tomorrow and know exactly where it stands.

How we'll measure success:

•      Jobs close at or above bid margin, consistently

•      Forecasts hold. Variances surface early, not at closeout

•      No missed submittal, RFI, or pay application deadlines

•      Change orders documented and approved before the work proceeds

•      Weekly status is accurate. When a job is off track, we hear it from you first, with a mitigation plan

•      You read structural and architectural drawings and specs fluently.

•      You take control of complex, shifting work and bring order to it.

•      You've run the submittal, RFI, change order, and pay application cycle.

We'll teach you our software and systems, our process and reporting cadence, steel-specific tolerances and lead times, AISC documentation, and our sub-fab vendor landscape.

Experienced Material Handler / Equipment Operator

Wahoo, NE | $26–$30 per hour | Monday–Thursday

Rebellion Fabrication builds structural and architectural steel for commercial and industrial projects. We’re looking for an experienced Material Handler who knows how to move heavy materials safely, keep inventory organized, and get the shop what it needs to stay on schedule.

You’ll receive deliveries, verify materials, and stage steel for our Processing team. We need someone who pays attention, spots discrepancies, and follows through without needing reminders.

What you’ll do

• Receive and check deliveries. Compare incoming materials to purchase orders, verify quantities, and report damage or discrepancies.

• Keep inventory accurate. Make sure materials are identified, recorded, and stored where the team can find them.

• Keep production moving. Pull and stage materials according to the schedule so equipment operators have what they need.

• Move steel safely. Load, unload, and transport materials without damaging equipment, products, or the people working around you.

• Keep your area organized. Maintain clear travel paths and orderly storage areas.

• Take care of equipment. Complete required checks, report problems, and follow equipment maintenance and safety procedures.

• Communicate with the crew. Speak up when material is missing, a delivery is incorrect, or something could hold up production.

Equipment operation

Operating equipment is a regular part of this job. You’ll use forklifts, telehandlers, overhead cranes, and a skid steer to move and position materials throughout the shop and yard.

We’re looking for someone with hands-on experience who understands load limits, safe material handling, and working around other people and equipment. You’ll complete our required training and authorization before operating equipment independently.

What we’re looking for

• At least one year of material handling experience, preferably in steel fabrication, manufacturing, or a similar environment.

• Experience operating material handling equipment and moving heavy or oversized loads.

• The ability to check material types, quantities, and paperwork accurately.

• Strong organization and the ability to prioritize work as shop needs change.

• Someone who takes responsibility for their work, helps the team, and addresses problems when they see them.

We’ll teach you our receiving process, inventory system, and shop procedures. You should bring solid material handling experience and safe equipment operating habits.

How we’ll measure success

• Accurate inventory.

• Incoming materials match purchase orders, with discrepancies caught and reported.

• Materials are staged correctly and ready when Processing needs them.

• Equipment and work areas are maintained and used safely.
